Start with a session export
The player reports workspace accepts CSV, XLSX, and XLS files with TrackMan column names. Excel sheets containing pitch data are combined. Choose files under 20 MB each, up to 50 MB per import and 200,000 pitches in the combined report.
Use one row per pitch and one header row. Column names are matched without regard to capitalization. Preserve the export’s measurement units and coordinate signs. Data from another tracking system is not automatically compatible merely because its columns have been renamed.
The template contains headers for your own data. The example includes 176 pitches with illustrative player labels and date, ready to explore in player reports.
Required columns and units
| Column | Format | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
Pitcher | Text | Player name; keep spelling consistent across sessions. |
PitcherThrows | Right or Left | R/RHP and L/LHP are also recognized. |
TaggedPitchType | Text | Pitch type. AutoPitchType fills missing or undefined manual tags. |
RelSpeed | mph | Release velocity. |
InducedVertBreak | inches | Induced vertical break, not total vertical break. |
HorzBreak | inches | Horizontal break with the source sign preserved. |
SpinRate | rpm | Measured spin rate. |
Extension | feet | Release extension. |
RelHeight | feet | Vertical release position. |
RelSide | feet | Horizontal release position; retain its sign. |
PlateLocSide | feet | Horizontal plate location; needed for Pitching+. |
PlateLocHeight | feet | Vertical plate location; needed for Pitching+. |
Add PitcherTeam to distinguish players with the same name on different teams. Date enables session filtering, and a reliable PitchUID supports duplicate removal. Original pitch results and batted-ball measurements add report detail but do not replace missing model inputs.
Include a fastball baseline
Each pitcher needs recognized fastball-family pitches in the selected sessions, with usable velocity, movement, and spin measurements. Fastball, four-seam, two-seam, sinker, and one-seam tags contribute to the baseline. A file containing only a pitcher’s changeups or sliders cannot supply that reference by itself.
If you combine sessions to provide a baseline, use the same pitcher name and team consistently. Changing the date selection can remove the needed fastballs and leave scores unavailable. Learn how the baseline affects scoring.
Supported pitch types
The model recognizes fastballs, four-seam and two-seam fastballs, sinkers, cutters, sliders, curveballs, changeups, splitters, knuckleballs, and one-seam fastballs. Common spelling and capitalization variants—including ChangeUp and Sinker—are normalized. Manual tags take priority over automatic tags.
An unsupported pitch type stays in the report but does not receive a model score. Do not relabel a pitch as a different type simply to force a number.
Why a score might be missing
- No named pitchers found
- Check the Pitcher column. A batter-only export can produce hitting reports but cannot supply pitcher identities for Stuff+.
- Stuff+ is blank
- Check all seven shape/release measurements, throwing hand, pitch type, and fastball coverage for that pitcher. Leave genuinely missing measurements blank; entering zero creates a measurement rather than repairing it.
- Stuff+ appears but Pitching+ does not
- Check PlateLocSide and PlateLocHeight. Both are needed for the location-aware model.
- Averages change after selecting dates
- The included pitches and their fastball baselines can change. Compare the same session scope and the number of scored pitches.
- CSV fields do not line up
- Export the file again with proper CSV quoting. A name containing a comma must be quoted as one field. Duplicate column names and rows with inconsistent field counts are rejected.

Files are read in your browser. Numeric features are sent to the scoring service without player names. Uploaded reports are not published or saved by the app. Download the summary CSV or print to PDF before refreshing or leaving your session.
